Parkside's NYSAIS Accreditation Renewed
As we begin a new school year, we are proud to share some wonderful news: The Parkside School's accreditation by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) has been officially renewed for another ten years.
The renewal follows a comprehensive self-study and a visit from the NYSAIS visiting committee this past March, whose report was reviewed and recently approved by the NYSAIS Board of Trustees. It is an especially meaningful milestone, arriving just as we closed out our 40th anniversary year.
What the committee saw
During their visit, the committee was deeply impressed by our dedication to students with language-based learning differences — supporting each child's needs while cultivating their individual strengths — and by the way every child at Parkside is truly seen, heard, and made to feel safe.
They praised our teachers' whole-team approach, in which every student is known and supported by a unified team, and our commitment to educating the whole child, with music, the arts, and physical activity valued as essential to student confidence and well-being.
They also highlighted the strength of our parent community — from sidewalk conferences to Friday morning assemblies — and our founding commitment to diversity and access, including the partnership that makes a Parkside education possible for families who might not otherwise afford it.
What accreditation means
NYSAIS accreditation represents the culmination of an in-depth process that examines every aspect of our school community — mission and culture, governance, educational program, student services, finance and operations, and communications. As a member of the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA), NYSAIS's accreditation is recognized across the United States and around the world.
Thank you
None of this would have been possible without our incredible community. Thank you to everyone who completed our surveys and took time out of busy schedules to meet with the visiting team — your voices helped tell Parkside's story, and it shows in this outcome.
We're so proud of what this renewed accreditation affirms about who we are, and even more excited about what it means for where we're headed.
Warmly,
Albina Miller and Leslie Thorne
