Alumni News, September 2025
Our alumni continue to make us proud with their diverse paths, achievements, and contributions to their communities. From pursuing new careers and degrees, to volunteering, teaching, and even appearing on television, Parkside graduates are carrying forward the lessons and values they gained here in inspiring ways. We’re delighted to share these updates as part of our 40th anniversary year, celebrating the many ways Parkside continues to shape lives long after graduation.
1990s
Brian Haher ’98 wrote to Ms. Miller and Ms. Thorne to share memories of his time at Parkside and to reflect on a recent family trip to New York City. Highlights included visiting the American Museum of Natural History, where he took note of the museum’s updates to exhibits about Native American history and culture. Brian also expressed his excitement about Parkside’s upcoming 40th anniversary and looks forward to contributing stories from his years as a student.
Meg Nye ’98 is living in Rocky Point, NY, and volunteers at Warrior Ranch, where she works with horses and supports wounded veterans.
2000s
Thomas Tadayasu Roche ’03 recently worked at the NYC mayoral primary election, helping to support strong voter turnout despite the summer heat. He shares that being a poll worker is a great way to engage with voters and encourages other Parkside alums to consider getting involved. Thomas has also been keeping in touch with fellow alum Sasha Rothman ’04, who is doing well. He sends warm regards to the Parkside community that shaped him.
2010s
Sylvia Guerrero ’11 recently accepted a position as an assistant teacher at the Goddard School in Stuyvesant Town, beginning this past summer. She shared that the job search was challenging but is excited to have received two offers, including one from Bright Horizons, and is thrilled to begin this next chapter in her career.
Elizabeth Leichter ’12 has recently moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she is settling into her new apartment and making friends. She has been active in volunteer projects with First Place and will begin classes in January to pursue a baking certification program, starting with earning her food handler’s card. Elizabeth also shared that her brother, Jack, is doing well and enjoying his program at Courtney’s Place. She reflects fondly on her Parkside memories and is grateful for the support she received from teachers and staff.
Alexander Soiefer’13 graduated from college this past June (2025) and has just started his first job as a software engineer at Humming Heads in Japan. His early interest in computing was sparked years ago when he got involved with Tech Kids Unlimited during his time at Parkside. His family shares that they are very proud of this milestone!
Harish Ahilan ‘14 gave the commencement address at Landmark College
Harish Ahilan ’14 graduated in May 2025 from Landmark College with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies, concentrating in Communications. This fall, he will begin his bachelor’s studies in Web and Digital Media at Beacon College in Florida, a school dedicated to supporting neurodiverse students. His family shares their gratitude to Parkside for giving Harish a strong foundation.
Sarah Silverman ’14 graduated from Hunter High School this past spring (2025). In August, she began her studies at Harvey Mudd College in California, where she plans to pursue a degree in Physics. Her family reflects on her growth over the years and celebrates the thoughtful, outspoken, and witty person she has become.
2020s
Maia Younger ‘21 with Mr. Lonsdale
Maia Younger ’21 is now a 9th grade student at Lowell High School, after graduating from Lowell Middle School with the Director’s Award for High Honors. She is passionate about art and enjoys drawing anime figures as well as reading manga. This past summer, Maia expanded her artistic repertoire by creating a watercolor piece with Parkside art teacher Mr. Lonsdale.
Ella Arazi ’24 has had a big year of growth, truly enjoying her classes and coursework while building supportive friendships. Her family shares that she is in a good headspace and her self-confidence has been growing. Though Ella wasn’t able to attend the alumni party this year, she looks forward to reconnecting with members of the Parkside community in the future.
Elijah Snyder-Richards ’24 had the chance to appear in a walk-on role for The Gilded Age this past spring and had a great time with the experience. His mom, Molly, managed to snag a couple of photos (that unfortunately can’t be shared), but hopefully you’ll catch a glimpse of him in the background of the latest season!
