The Parkside admissions process seeks to create a beneficial match between our program resources, parents goals and each child's needs. The application process gives families a chance to learn the details of our educational approach and to see it first hand.

From the first day that I opened the red doors and walked into the lobby of the Parkside School, my concept of a special education teacher was refined. Parkside is where children with special needs feel free to take learning risks, while receiving the quality education they’ll need to be successful individuals. Parkside is not just an idea, it’s a treasure.

While your family is learning about our school, we get to know you and your child as well.  We invite children to interview with us and often they spend time in a classroom.  Families begin learning more about our school by using this website or calling with any questions.  A complete application packet can be downloaded when needed.  Families should then arrange to visit our school by submitting a completed application with relevant school or outside evaluations.  As we receive these materials, we follow up to arrange for an interview and further visits.

Admissions Checklist

The following checklist will help ensure that you have all the necessary components for a completed application:

  • Inquiry
The first step is to submit a formal Admissions Inquiry. Once you have done so, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss our application process and set you up with a username and password.

  • Application Form & Fee
Once you’ve submitted a formal inquiry, you will be invited to complete our online Application Form and pay the application fee of $100.

  • Psychological, School, Therapist and Department of Education Reports and Evaluations
A copy of your child’s most recent reports and/or evaluations from their current school and current therapists should be submitted along with your application. This must include a psychological evaluation (may be submitted after the deadline once the practitioner has prepared it). Please also include the most current IEP (Individualized Education Plan).

  • Photograph
A photograph of your child should be included to aid our memory during the admissions process.

  • Parent Tour
Please contact Andie Levinger at 212-721-8888 x276 to schedule a time to talk, or register for one of our Open Houses below.

  • Interview
After your application has been processed, we will screen the information and may call you to schedule an appointment for your child to be seen either at their current school setting and/or at Parkside.

Inquiries, application, and all supporting documentation must be submitted online. If you have any questions, or trouble with the the software, please contact Andie Levinger.
