Now I am in art school at Maryland Institute College of Art, and able to overcome a lot of the obstacles that were in front of me. I have been successfully living on my own at school. I hope you are well during this difficult time.”

1990s

Brian Haher ’98 wrote to Ms. Miller, saying “The Parkside School taught me how to use my words instead of scream and to learn about stories, foods, languages and music from around the world such as France, Brazil, Russia and India. The best part was listening to Scholastic books on tape. I listened to them in the classroom or in the hallway by the classroom during free time and during story hour when the teacher would hold them up to see what was going on. The books on tape had unique music that built moods, very good narration and sound effects. It was nice to hear what a children's storybook sounded like. I want to thank you, Ms. Thorne and all the teachers for everything they did for me.”
